We are recruiting for an experienced Assistant General Manager to support the day to day management of a high-quality residential development.
Working closely with the General Manager, you will help ensure the smooth running of the development, delivering excellent service to residents while supporting building operations, service charge administration, maintenance, compliance and contractor management.
This is a varied, hands-on position requiring someone who is highly organised, confident dealing with residents and able to manage a busy administrative workload.
Key Responsibilities- Support the General Manager with the day-to-day operation and management of the development.
- Act as a professional point of contact for residents and leaseholders, handling enquiries, requests and complaints through to resolution.
- Maintain accurate resident, property, contractor and operational records.
- Prepare resident communications relating to maintenance, planned works, building updates and service interruptions.
- Assist with service charge budgets, expenditure monitoring, invoice checking and year-end reporting.
- Respond to service charge queries and liaise with internal finance teams where required.
- Carry out regular inspections of communal and operational areas, identifying defects and following actions through to completion.
- Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance with approved contractors.
- Obtain quotations, raise works orders and monitor contractor performance and completed works.
- Support major works and Section 20 administration, including resident communications and access arrangements.
- Maintain building compliance and health & safety records, escalating outstanding actions or risks appropriately.
- Support fire safety, building safety, security and emergency procedures.
- Assist with the supervision of onsite teams, including front-of-house and operational staff.
- Monitor cleaning, presentation and general standards throughout the development.
- Deputise for the General Manager when required.
About You
We are looking for someone with:- Previous experience within residential property, block management, estate management or a similar environment.
- Strong service charge experience, including budgets, expenditure, invoices and resident queries.
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proven customer-facing experience and confidence dealing with residents, leaseholders and other stakeholders.
- Experience coordinating contractors, maintenance and planned works.
- A good understanding of health & safety and building compliance within a residential environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and follow actions through to completion.
- A professional, proactive and solutions-focused approach.
- Previous experience supporting or supervising onsite teams would be advantageous.
The Role
This would suit an experienced Assistant Building Manager, Assistant Estate Manager, Assistant Development Manager, Property Manager or Assistant General Manager looking to take on a broad operational role within residential property.
