We are working with a leading residential developer to recruit a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Operative for a stunning residential skyscraper in Canary Wharf. The role is focused on the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the building, communal areas, plant rooms and associated facilities. The position does not involve carrying out maintenance or repairs inside individual resident apartments.

Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day planned and reactive maintenance of the building, including:- General building maintenance and repairs.
- Maintenance of communal areas and shared facilities.
- Carrying out allocated PPM tasks as part of the existing maintenance programme.
- Routine inspections of communal areas, plant rooms, service areas and building facilities.
- Basic plumbing repairs within communal and building areas.
- Basic electrical maintenance, where suitably qualified.
- Minor carpentry and joinery.
- Painting and decorating.
- Repairs and maintenance of doors, locks, handles, fixtures and fittings.
- Identifying defects and reporting issues to the Estate Manager.
- Assisting specialist contractors when required.
- Supporting the Estate Manager with general building maintenance requirements.
- Keeping plant rooms, service areas and maintenance areas clean, safe and organised.
- Maintaining accurate records of completed maintenance works.
- Responding to reactive maintenance issues within the building.
- Carrying out regular checks and reporting any faults or potential issues.
- Supporting the wider estate team with general operational requirements.
The role is primarily hands-on and operational. The Maintenance Operative will not be responsible for scheduling PPMs, managing the maintenance programme or arranging contractors. These responsibilities will sit with the Estate Manager and wider management team.
The role also does not involve carrying out maintenance or repairs within individual resident apartments.
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for someone with:- Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities management, property maintenance or a similar environment.
- Experience working within a large residential, commercial, hotel or high-rise building would be advantageous.
- Good general maintenance knowledge across multiple trades.
- Practical plumbing, electrical, carpentry and decorating skills.
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Good health and safety awareness.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic.
- A professional and presentable approach.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the Estate Manager, contractors and wider estate team.
Relevant qualifications such as NVQ/City & Guilds, electrical or plumbing qualifications would be desirable, although strong practical maintenance experience will also be considered.
We are looking for someone who is hands-on, proactive and capable of taking ownership of day-to-day building maintenance issues.
