Description

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Fire Safety Manager who will act as the central fire safety lead across a key London destination. The role requires a fire safety expert with the ability to operate strategically whilst remaining hands on where required. You will manage and liaise with numerous stakeholders including the London Fire Brigade and the Local Authority. This is a senior role that requires someone dedicated to Fire Safety.

The Role:

  • Ensure compliance in line with the Building safety Act 2002 through Mandatory Occurrence Reporting.
  • Oversee and review fire safety workstreams by 3rd party contractors, ensuring statutory obligations are met.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive fire safety management system.
  • Proactively identify, review and reduce risk across the estate.
  • Act as a point of contact for urgent and emerging fire safety risks, including out-of-hours when required.
  • Provide strategic recommendations and assurance to the Board.
  • Develop and oversee methodology for Waking Watch provision and evacuation resources (including PEEPs).
  • Liaise with external fire safety consultancies.
  • Report to the Board and Fire Safety Steering Group as required.

Requirements:

Experience:

  • Strategic level experience in fire safety gained in one or more of: fire and rescue services, facilities management, housing, asset management, compliance, construction, or health and safety.
  • Proven experience managing fire safety in high-rise, higher-risk residential premises.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fire safety legislation and guidance.
  • Track record of applying guidance to meet legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience making risk-based analyses to inform strategic decisions.
  • Experience providing expert advice and support to a large organisation.

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Relevant fire safety qualifications and membership of a professional body (e.g. IFE, IFSM).
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of:
  • The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
  • Building Safety Act 2022
  • Fire Safety Act 2022
  • Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022
  • Able to interpret legislation and guidance.
