Job Role: Financial Director (Part Time)

Introduction

The PMR Group are a specialist recruitment, HR and training group, based in the West End of London. We have been established for over 15 years and are primarily involved in the property industry.

Over the last 6 years we have grown by an average of 25% a year and employ some 750 on-site staff across the UK. We are expecting a turnover of £20M in this financial year.

As the group has grown, it has become apparent that we need our own in-house finance director, one who is qualified as a management account as the primary purpose of this role is to keep the directors fully informed of the company's financial position with detailed and accurate reports and forecasts.

You will also be responsible for a team of four that carry out the day to day accounting of the Group. Your duties would be broadly as follows,

Accounting and Reporting

  • Ensuring accuracy and reliability of the Company's accounting systems; that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported; and that balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled.
  • Preparing accurate and timely monthly management accounts for the directors and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that all bank and company payment card accounts are fully reconciled.
  • Creating monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
  • Checking submission and payment of all regular HMRC items such as PAYE and VAT.
  • Ensuring accuracy of the payroll system and ensuring timely payments to employees, government agencies, pension scheme, etc.
  • Complying with all statutory reporting requirements including VAT, PAYE and the ONS.
  • Reporting to the Directors with timely and accurate financial information and flagging up any areas of concern
  • Helping to design and set up a monthly KPI reporting pack.
  • Creating financial and accounting controls for the internal team members.
  • Developing budgets and financial plans for the company supported by data.
  • Reviewing business costs and processes regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities.
  • Being closely involved in the specification, implementation, and management of new systems.
  • Checking operational reports and data to check for errors and inconsistencies.
  • Managing cash flow by tracking debtors and creditors, and regularly reviewing data, managing the credit control team.
  • Liaising with the bank and HMRC.
  • Producing reports to comply with government regulations and legal requirements.
  • Coordinating with auditors to ensure that they are fully informed and that audits meet all relevant accounting standards.

Experience Required

  • You must be a qualified management accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACMA, ACCA), with at least two years post-qualification experience.
  • Some management experience required, as you will be responsible for an accounts team of four.
  • Desirable experience will be that within an SME, ideally in the service sector.

Other skills and characteristics

  • Good knowledge of Excel including writing and understanding formulae and Excel macros
  • Analytical, logical, strong attention to detail
  • Collaborative and supportive, able to relate comfortably to colleagues of different seniority and backgrounds across the Group.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and capable of working in a team environment.
  • Able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision, switching between remote and occasional office based working.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good presentation skills

The hours and days for the role are flexible and we look to accommodate those candidates with care responsibilities.

This is a hybrid role, you will be mainly home based, however you will be expected to be in our central London office on 2-3 occasions per month to meet with the directors and your team members.

Package

The role will pay the FTE equivalent of £75,000 pa for 20hrs per week.

You will be employed on a permanent contract.

As a member of the senior management team you will, after probation, be entitled to a range of benefits including income protection cover, enhanced maternity benefits, a salary sacrifice scheme and death in service cover.
