Our client is seeking a proactive and hands-on Maintenance Operative to join a brand-new flagship student accommodation development in East London, opening later this year.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a major new launch, supporting the operation of one of London's largest and most technically advanced PBSA developments, comprising over 1,600 beds and extensive building services infrastructure.
Working alongside the Maintenance Manager, Supervisor and wider onsite team, you will play a key role in planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, plant room operations, and the day-to-day performance of critical building services, helping to deliver an exceptional resident experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) across building services, plant and communal areas.
- Diagnose and resolve day-to-day faults across mechanical, electrical and building fabric systems.
- Carry out plant room inspections and support the operation of HVAC systems, including AHUs, FCUs and associated equipment.
- Respond to resident maintenance requests and complete routine building, safety and communal area checks.
- Coordinate specialist contractors and escalate complex issues where required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records while promoting high health & safety standards across site.
Your Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer, Building Services Engineer, Hotel Engineer, Maintenance Operative or similar.
- Experience carrying out reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) within a live operational environment.
- Experience working with HVAC systems, plant rooms, AHUs, FCUs and wider building services infrastructure.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Basic plumbing, electrical and general maintenance knowledge.
- Comfortable working independently while also contributing as part of a wider team.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
Working Hours:
- 37.5 hours per week
- 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis
- Weekend and bank holiday working as part of a shared rota
- Shifts scheduled between 7:30am and 8:00pm and published in advance
