Salary: £60,000 - £80,000

The Opportunity

An innovative residential property asset manager is seeking a proactive and commercially astute solicitor to join their growing in-house legal team, supporting a portfolio of over 200,000 leasehold properties across England and Wales. This is a hybrid role combining property compliance, contractual advisory work and building safety matters, offering an exciting opportunity to develop specialist expertise in a fast-evolving sector.

You will be working alongside experienced property lawyers, supporting a range of operational teams, external advisors and clients on complex residential property matters, including leasehold compliance, construction defects, and building safety remediation work.

The Role

You will report to the Deputy Head of Legal and assume responsibility for a varied caseload of legal and compliance issues, supporting the company's strategic objectives and regulatory obligations.

  • Support and manage a caseload of legal matters relating to leasehold compliance, title defects, consents, assignment formalities and disputes.

  • Advise on both contentious and non-contentious issues arising from construction defects and building safety related matters, including remediation projects and third-party claims.

  • Provide legal support to internal teams including Asset Protection, Insurance, and Finance regarding construction risk and compliance strategies.

  • Manage and instruct external solicitors on litigation, pre-action matters and specialist advisory work.

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of template legal documents, including drafting deeds, licences, and correspondence.

  • Analyse title structures and support due diligence processes for acquisitions and onboarding.

  • Attend site meetings, court hearings, tribunals, and external stakeholder meetings as required.

  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance across all business operations, including data protection, contract review, and reporting.

The Person

We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic legal professional with demonstrable experience in residential property law and an interest in building safety regulation.

  • Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with 1-3 years PQE.
  • Experience with residential leasehold, landlord & tenant law, and property compliance.

  • Exposure to construction or building safety matters (e.g. Building Safety Act, Defective Premises Act) beneficial.

  • Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Previous in-house experience or experience representing landlords or property managers.

  • Familiarity with residential remediation funding schemes and construction dispute resolution.

  • Experience working with property management software such as Qube.

  • Benefits

  • Competitive salary and discretionary bonus

  • 25 days' holiday (plus bank holidays and annual increases for length of service)

  • Hybrid working and flexible hours

  • Private Medical Insurance after probation

  • Life Assurance (2x annual salary)

  • Enhanced pension scheme

  • Support with professional memberships and ongoing development

  • Employee Assistance Programme, wellness initiatives and social events

  • Company-wide commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
