Job Title: Day Porter
Location: Central London
Salary: £32,500 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am-6:00pm and Saturday, 8:00am-12:00pm
Reports to: Managing Agent
Department: Estate Management

Overall Purpose:
To provide a professional and high-quality front-of-house and cleaning service for residents, visitors, and contractors. The Day Porter ensures the building and communal areas are well maintained, secure, and welcoming, supporting the overall smooth running of the development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide an excellent front-of-house service, greeting residents, visitors, and contractors in a polite and professional manner.

  • Maintain cleanliness of all communal areas, including lobbies, corridors, lifts, and external areas, to the highest standard.

  • Regularly inspect the property to identify maintenance or health and safety issues and report them promptly to the Building/Development Manager.

  • Manage deliveries, post, and parcels efficiently, ensuring secure handling and timely notification to residents.

  • Oversee contractor access, ensuring work areas are left tidy and security procedures are followed.

  • Assist residents with minor queries and provide a responsive and helpful service at all times.

  • Carry out waste management duties, including moving bins and keeping refuse areas clean and organised.

  • Monitor the security of the building, ensuring doors, gates, and communal areas are secure at all times.

  • Support emergency procedures, including fire evacuations and incident reporting.

  • Ensure cleaning materials and equipment are used and stored safely in line with Health & Safety regulations (COSHH, PPE).

  • Maintain a professional appearance and act as an ambassador for the development and management company.

Skills & Experience - Essential:

  • Previous experience in a porter, caretaker, or facilities role within a residential or hospitality environment.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive and reliable attitude.

  • Ability to carry out manual handling and cleaning duties safely and effectively.

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and safe working practices.

  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a luxury residential development or similar environment.

  • Basic understanding of building systems (lighting, heating, security).
