Job Purpose:
- To maintain the standards and appearance of the development at all times.
- Responsible for the care of the site and high quality horticultural tasks.
- To provide a visible daily presence along with a quick turnaround of all general maintenance issues.
General Duties:
- To report to Line manager on and off site.
- Reporting to managing agents in the event of an emergency.
- Maintaining the appearance of the development. This will include general gardening duties (watering of plants, leaf sweeping, Bin store clearing litter picking etc.) and seasonal duties (gritting car park, leaf sweeping etc.)
- Managing, Mentoring and developing an apprentice on a daily basis
- Responsible for the day-to-day care and management of plants. Lawn areas, hedges, trees and the overall tidy and attractive appearance of the site.
- Occasionally cleaning of the common areas, including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, polishing etc. (have others employed for this roles and will be on the odd occasion)
- Oversee the day-to-day maintenance of the gardens, including duties such as lawn mowing, fertilizer/ weed killer applications, tending to mixed/ herbaceous borders, compost bins, hedges, trees and shrubs.
- Produce regular working plans, producing and implementing planting schemes.
- Keeping a record of equipment and stock so as to ensure that appropriate resources are maintained.
- Participating in horticultural machinery operations including: grass cutting, hedge cutting, wood chippers etc.
- Ensure machinery and tools are maintained in good working order, adopting best working practices in all areas.
- Ensure Health and Safety legislative procedures are maintained and adhered to.
- Understanding and enforcing the estate rules and regulations amongst residents and visitors, for example car parking restrictions.
- Keeping a record of equipment and stock so as to ensure that appropriate resources are maintained.
- Managing key areas e.g. snow, ice and storm management, path care etc.
- To be clean and smartly dressed at all times (except when performing maintenance work where overalls are appropriate).
Person Specification:
Essential
- Experience of undertaking gardening projects
- Good organisational skills, an ability to multi-task and strong prioritisation skills
- A desire to maintain very high standards
Desirable
- Basic maintenance work (maintaining the decking, changing light bulbs, decorating and carpentry etc.)
- A valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card or equivalent training
- Caple Manor qualification in Horticulture and Landscaping Courses or Arboriculture and Countryside Courses
