Building Manager - Inspiring Workplace for the Creative Industry

Working Hours: 10:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday

Salary: £28,000 - £33,000

Location: Camberwell, South East London

This is a creative, artsy company offering motivating workspaces for artists, providing distinctive, enriching work environments. Their most well-known projects are based around East London, where creative firms congregate to work, interact, and grow, launched in London in 2009.

They have just bought the first freehold property in Camberwell, which is their first site in the south of London. Grade II listed buildings with a lot of character and a central location make up this new site.

A Building Manager now has a fantastic opportunity to oversee this recent acquisition. We are helping to search for someone to oversee the efficient operation of the opening of the site and its occupants.

Aims of the Role:

This is the perfect position for someone who appreciates working in a social, customer-facing capacity and who possesses the ability to remain calm and friendly under pressure or in hectic circumstances. You will receive assistance from the Studios Management team and maintain regular touch with all employees, offering assistance with administrative tasks as required.

From onboarding to resident services and activities, you'll improve every area of the resident experience. You'll also create an aspirational community of residents while maximising retention and rental income. The position is appropriate for a capable, assured, and articulate person with exceptional people and administrative abilities, as well as a desired passion for the creative industries.

Building Management

  • Oversee on-site facilities including maintenance, cleaning, security and recycling services
  • Fire alarm testing, incident reports, risk assessments etc and filing these promptly and accurately so that up-to-date records can be easily located and checked
  • Up-to-date knowledge of local and neighbouring creative businesses,
  • Work collaboratively with the Sales & Marketing team to curate the community
  • Support Front of House staff in the management of resident enquiries
  • Recruit, train and manage the Front of House team with the highest level of customer service, organising the rota, setting KPI's
  • Support the Resident Experience Manager and Operations team when required
  • Deliver basic IT support to residents

Administration

  • Supervising part time FOH staff
  • Managing contract processing alongside building management
  • Manage FOH rota for weekend staff
  • Liaise with cleaning staff on current stock levels
  • Managing the upkeep of the project management platform

Resident Experience:

  • Support the Resident Experience Manager in achieving full studio occupancy and focusing on retention
  • Develop the community by supporting and connecting residents
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications team to arrange interesting and engaging resident events
  • Full responsibility for the presentation of the lobby and FOH are
  • Ensure the best on / off boarding for residents
  • Liaise with residents and the Maintenance team for all move out meetings

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 2 years management and customer-focused experience
  • Ability to understand the specific needs of our residents
  • An understanding of the workspace market and the creative industries
  • Good understanding of computers, IT and CCTV systems
  • Exemplary problem solving skills
  • Work well under pressure
