General Manager

Music Studio. Members Club. Coworking.

Our client our the world's first members' studio for content creators. They combine a meaningful community with the magic of a creative studio and the convenience of a coworking space.

Their curated community of musicians, producers, podcasters, youtubers, artists, photographers and creative entrepreneurs and businesses share a membership that celebrates diversity and inclusivity.

They have a thriving community of hundreds of professional creators and 40 studios across their first site; they now have their next two sites opening within the next 9 months.

We are on the hunt for an entrepreneurial leader to join the team as the General Manager. You will be at the forefront of all decisions made to create business success, whilst also creating the foundations for future sites as they scale. You will be responsible for the on-site team, delivering a best in class experience to members through exceptional day to day operations, all the while growing the community month over month.

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside an adventurous, passionate and fast-growing founding team and help to create a new category within the creative industries.

Responsibilities:

Building Operations & Management

  • Ensure all physical touchpoints are looking their best, at all times
  • Ensure all studios and relevant equipment are operating efficiently to maximise member experience
  • Resolve building maintenance issues promptly by sourcing and coordinating with contractors and managing service contracts
  • Responsible for Fire, H&S and compliance of the site
  • Create and deliver the processes required for a flawless member experience, whatever hour of the day they use the space
  • Hold the team accountable for operational standards
  • Escalate any recurring issues to the Head of Operations to work on resolutions
  • Manage the buildings OPEX budget to achieve profitability goals

Team Management

  • Oversee and lead the team within your building to execute on their objectives and areas of ownership
  • Ensure your team have the tools necessary to succeed in their respective roles
  • Deliver performance reviews, making sure your team always understand how they are performing and their growth journey goals
  • Support your team through ongoing coaching, feedback and weekly one-to-ones
  • Ensure your time is split appropriately to make sure your team feel supported in their day-to-day activities

Member Engagement and Retention

  • Take ownership and manage the relationships with all members, both residents and month to month, within the building
  • Be the escalation point of contact for resolving members issues, billing and any other issues of complexity
  • Be accountable for member retention, NPS score and overall member satisfaction

Growth and Financials

  • Take ownership of achieving monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets
  • Provide input to monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, illustrating the results of the work you do at the site
  • Manage relationships with any brokers
  • Create and execute any growth strategies that enable the business to hit occupancy and revenue targets

Experience & Requirements

  • 5+ years or equivalent experience in hospitality, retail, creative start-ups or coworking
  • 2+ years of management experience
  • Building operations experience required
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred in Business, Marketing, Hospitality or other related degrees
  • Entrepreneurial experience either in early stage start-ups or your own venture is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, project management, and business operations experience
  • Motivated by challenges, change and operates well in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates responsibility, integrity, accountability and work-ethic

  • You are naturally curious: You love learning and believe you can learn to solve any challenge that comes your way
  • You have an intimate connection and passion for the arts; specifically, music, podcasts, or video e.g. have pursued your own creative endeavours and/or have spent time in recording, art, photography or production studios.
