Independent Living Officer

PMR is working with a leading housing provider to recruit a Temporary Independent Living Advisor to join their team in Frome, Somerset, on a 3-month assignment (likely to be extended).

This is a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and proactive individual to provide intensive housing management support to sheltered housing residents, helping them live independently and safely within their community.

Role Details
Location: Phoenix House, Frome, Somerset
Hours: 28 per week (to be agreed with manager)
Rate: £14.78 per hour PAYE
Driving licence: Essential
Clearance: Basic DBS required

Key Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with residents, delivering a warm and friendly service
• Support prospective and new residents through property viewings and move-ins
• Provide tenancy guidance, ensuring residents understand their rights and responsibilities
• Offer benefits and financial signposting
• Carry out health and safety checks, including site inspections and risk assessments across communal areas and lifts
• Monitor contractors, including grounds maintenance, cleaning and laundry services
• Work collaboratively across teams to ensure smooth service delivery
• Support resident wellbeing, including managing disputes, completing referrals for aids and adaptations, and responding to emergencies

Essential Experience

• Experience working with older people
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt to individual needs
• Good administrative and numeracy skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• A genuine commitment to Equality and Diversity

Desirable

• Knowledge of Housing Benefit
• Experience supporting residents through bereavement or loss
