Our client is seeking a proactive and hands-on Maintenance Operative to join a brand-new flagship PBSA (Purpose-Built Student Accommodation) development in East London, opening later this year.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a major new launch, supporting the operation of a landmark student accommodation scheme of over 1,500 beds. Working alongside the Maintenance Manager, Supervisor and wider onsite team, you will play a key role in maintaining building services, responding to maintenance issues, and ensuring residents receive a first-class living experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) across building services, plant and communal areas.
- Diagnose and resolve day-to-day maintenance issues across mechanical, electrical and building fabric systems.
- Carry out routine plant room inspections and support the operation of HVAC systems, including AHUs, FCUs and associated equipment.
- Respond to resident maintenance requests professionally and within agreed service levels.
- Complete regular building inspections, safety checks and communal area walkarounds.
- Assist with fault finding, escalating specialist issues where required.
- Support contractor management and ensure works are completed safely and to a high standard.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and promote a strong health & safety culture across site.
Your Requirements:
- Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, building services, hotel engineering, PBSA or residential maintenance role
- Experience carrying out reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance within a live operational environment
- Exposure to HVAC systems, plant rooms, AHUs, FCUs or building services systems
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Basic plumbing, electrical and general maintenance knowledge
- Comfortable working independently while also contributing as part of a wider team
- Good health & safety awareness and understanding of compliance requirements
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach
- Experience using CAFM systems would be advantageous
- F-Gas, HVAC, mechanical or building services experience would be highly desirable
Working Hours
37.5 hours per week- 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis
- Weekend and bank holiday working required as part of the rota
- Shifts operating between 7:30am and 8:00pm
