Handyman / Caretaker

Location: SW17, South West London
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 DOE
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

We are currently seeking a reliable and proactive Handyman / Caretaker to join a residential development in SW17. This is a key on-site position, responsible for maintaining the overall condition, safety, and presentation of the building while providing a visible and helpful presence for residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a daily on-site presence, actively monitoring the condition of the building and identifying issues early
• Carry out general repairs and basic maintenance across fixtures, fittings, locks, and minor plumbing issues
• Undertake painting and decorating duties, including touch-ups and upkeep of communal areas
• Support and supervise contractor access, ensuring works are completed safely and to standard
• Log, report, and escalate defects and repair requirements to managing agents or relevant contractors
• Conduct routine inspections of communal areas, plant rooms, and external spaces
• Carry out basic health & safety checks, including lighting inspections and fire alarm testing
• Ensure bin stores, corridors, and shared spaces remain clean, safe, and well presented
• Act as a day-to-day point of contact for residents, dealing with queries in a professional and approachable manner

Working Pattern

• Monday to Friday
• 8:00am - 5:00pm

About You

• Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or handyman role within residential or commercial buildings
• Good all-round practical skills and a proactive, "can-do" approach
• Confident communicating with residents, contractors, and managing agents
• Able to prioritise workload and spot issues before they escalate
• Basic understanding of health & safety within a residential environment
