Our Client is looking for a Caretaker to work between 25-40 hours per week, scheduled at least four weeks in advance in a luxury development in St Johns Wood.
The Salary will be between £12 to £14 per hour depending on experience.
Role:
- To work with the Resident House Manager as first point of contact with staff, members and visitors.
- Provide effective and appropriate security, maintaining health and safety guidelines.
- Daily kitchen and bathroom inspections for cleanliness and supplies.
- Building and maintenance support for the effective running of the building.
Main Responsibilities:
Caretaking Duties:
- Open up and close the building at the scheduled times.
- Maintain the building to the highest standard of cleanliness and appearance; keep the forecourt of the building clean and tidy.
- Prevent the build-up of items around the building, particularly on fire escape routes, making regular checks.
- Ensure that the toilets are clean and stocked with all necessary materials.
- Ensure that the professional kitchen is clean at all times and used correctly by employees, members, volunteers and visiting caterers, including training in how to use the dishwasher, hob, oven and combi-oven.
- Maintain stock levels on all regular supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels tea, coffee, milk, making timely requests for purchasing.
- Undertake regular inventories of cutlery, glassware, crockery, and other items.
- Prepare the Sanctuary for services, checking that all equipment is in place and working and all materials are in place.
- Prepare rooms for all booked meetings, functions and services in accordance with instructions from the Resident House Manager or other key staff.
- Ensure that users leave the rooms clean and clear, if they do not, report this matter to the Resident House Manager.
- Where advised, you may be asked to assist with food and drink that is being served or to assist in the clearing away and washing up following organised events; your role is to help volunteers not to do the work for them.
- All lights in the building to be extinguished before the building is close each evening.
Building Maintenance
- Carry out repairs & renovations as necessary and when requested by the Resident House Manager;
- Maintain the building to the highest standard of cleanliness and appearance.
- Report any issues for repair, maintenance, replacement to the House Manager.
Other Duties
- Attend training (in person and online) to ensure that you remain skilled and able to undertake your work in a professional manner;
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested.
Health and Safety:
- Work within the agreed Health and Safety guidelines to ensure that the everyone in the building remains safe, including regular checks to minimise potential risks.
- Implement all agreed protocols in the event of evacuation or invacuation of the building.
- Understand the buildings safeguarding protocols and how to report an incident if identified.
- Provide assistance in the event of an accident or other medical emergency, within the guidelines of your training.
- In the case of a major emergency, ensure that it is reported to all senior staff immediately.
Security:
- Staffing the front desk as security and visitor first point of contact.
- Logging staff and visitors in and out of the building.
- Controlling and setting alarms and equipment.
- Following guidelines to ensure that the building remains safe and free from external threat, working with the additional paid security guards, volunteer's and police.
- Making regular checks of the building to ensure it is secure and clean.
- Ensuring alarms and protective devices are in operation when leaving the synagogue unoccupied.
- Monitoring and controlling forecourt parking.
- Manage the staff and visitor sign in to ensure that they comply with all existing security and health and safety guidelines.
