We are working with a traditional residential apartment block based in the West End who are seeking a Porter to join the team. You will be providing general front of house duties for the residents, offering a welcoming service around the building.
The role requires someone with flexibility during the week, as you would be employed to cover annual leave/ sickness when required, in addition to working your core hours.
Hours: 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday + Additional cover when required
Hourly Rate: £11.95 per hour (London Living Wage)
Duties:
- To welcome residents and visitors into the building and ensure they are met with a professional manner.
- Basic Handyman duties: Changing lightbulbsm, fixtures and fittings, repairing skirting boards, painting and decorating works.
- To be a highly visible presence on the pavement, to walk up and down outside five mansion blocks, helping people with pushchairs and luggage or with shopping when they wish to access the buildings.
- This position is not concierge based, there is an office, but this is for breaks only and not to be used whilst on duty. The role will be spent on the pavement, walking up and down.
- To be able to communicate in a confident and friendly manner, with residents and visitors to our buildings, to be vigilant in terms of making sure doors are kept closed when not in use, and to have confidence to challenge people who try to enter our buildings who should not be doing so.
- To be able to follow instructions, both verbal and written.
- To be smart in appearance wearing suit and tie, to carry out checks on our buildings and make sure that when leaving our buildings are secure in terms of all back doors being locked and alarms being set.
- To be able to check that lifts and boilers are working and carry out some basic rectification work if this is not the case.
- To be able to use a mobile phone, answer professionally and deal with queries raised by callers or visitors to our buildings.
- On a Sunday to collect and dispose of rubbish in a trolley provided to our bin area from outside all flats.
Person Specification:
- The suitable candidate will be smart in appearance and be confident and have a friendly positive nature. They must be able to communicate well in English and be physically fit as they will be patrolling outside our buildings.
- They must be reliable and show a commitment to the role, they should be flexible in terms of when they take breaks and they must be able to follow instructions and report concisely to their supervisor.
