Description

PMR supplies staff to luxury residential blocks across London, we are currently working with a well established managing agent who is seeking an Estate Gardener to work on a development in South East London.

The gardener will be responsible for managing all environmental elements on the site, personally maintaining the gardens and planters and using the best horticultural practises.

Hours: Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 depending on experience

Duties:

  • Installation of replacement shrubs, trees and seasonal bedding.
  • Meet with the directors on scheduled garden walkabouts or at scheduled meetings indoors to ensure the gardens meet the standards and expectations they have.
  • Freshen and redesign areas as the need arises.
  • Experience with maintaining water features.
  • Maintain the quality of the water feature, paying particular regard to invasive plants or anything else which might damage the moat liner.
  • Plan and carry out minor landscape works such as new entrance ramps, paving repairs, or new shrub borders.
  • Manage environmental elements of the site: pest control, wildlife, foxes, petrol storage, and so forth. In particular, maximize the use of recycling.
  • Tidy up all bags and hoses and place equipment away at the end of the day.
  • Work flexibly as part of the site team to help out with whatever needs doing day-to-day such as removing unsightly litter or hazards (such as broken bottles) in the shrubberies as they are discovered.
  • Keep hard-standings free of weeds and/or moss.
  • Advise on, and operate, garden machinery such as shredders, mowers etc., keeping an inventory and arranging servicing as required.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience required in groundworks and landscaping preferably holding a horticultural qualification such as RHS level 3 (or equivalent) and PA1/6.
  • Relevant experience with the minimum of one year as a gardener, being responsible for the general maintenance of a large estate.
  • Excellent eye for detail with a pride in the consistent presentation of the development. Understanding of Health and Safety regulations including COSHH and safe use of ladders.
  • Confidence with the use of power tools and working at heights training would be an advantage.
  • Confident, polite and courteous communicator with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Exceptional customer service experience, with the ability to work multi-task, prioritise and manage various task simultaneously
