Job Description

VERTO HR are currently looking for a Temporary Relief Caretaker to work in a residential development based in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Salary: £9 per hour

Hours: Mon - Fri, 8am - 12pm

Start: 26th August

Responsibilities:

  • Collect all loose rubbish from estate ground, paths, roads and porches.
  • Refuse collection visit, accompanying council operatives & clearing up debris & leftover waste in bin stores. Check bin rooms and sweep as necessary.
  • To walk the building in the morning and afternoon- and various intervals during the day. Inspecting for cleanliness, repair and security. All defects should be reported to the managing agent. It is important that the fire escapes are included within these patrols.
  • Ensuring all external doors, windows, fire exit doors, electrical cupboards etc are kept closed, and where applicable locked at all times. This includes the fire exit doors.
  • Inspect all common parts, replace light bulbs where necessary.
  • Monitor car parking. Noting unauthorised vehicles, take appropriate action. (Persistent offenders to be reported to the Managing Agent.) Ensure access is possible for emergency vehicles at all times.
  • Keep note in log book of all faults reported by residents.
  • Check carpets and vacuum as necessary, ensure entrances and staircases are clean at all times.
  • Inspect common areas for any obstructions or hazards and ensure appropriate action to remedy. (I.e. remove items where applicable, speak directly with the resident concerned or the Managing Agent.)
  • Check underground garages for trespassers at ad hoc times
  • Visual inspection of all drains and gutters to ensure they are free from rubbish/debris/obstruction.
  • Check locks of all communal doors and gates to ensure fully function. (Notify residents and agents if there are any defects.)
  • Sweep external terrace area/surround of building, including external metal work & louvers (hose/wash down where necessary). Clear footpaths and steps of snow and ice in adverse conditions.
  • To be courteous and helpful to all residents, staff, guests and contractors employed by the residents of the building.
  • Oversight and reporting of contractors onsite, keeping PM updated on progress, ensuring contractors are working safely at all times.
  • Be aware of any unusual damage (e.g. Possible break-in) or Health and Safety issues and report to Managing Agent immediately.
