Job Description

Our client is seeking a House Manager to oversee the day to day running of a sheltered accomodation scheme in West Mersea.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Good Neighbour

1. Health & Well Being
a. Check briefly on the well-being of all residents, save for those who opt out of the process, and record the results. Evidence should be one of
i. Seeing the resident in the communal areas
ii. Seeing their carer who confirms they are ok
iii. Ringing the doorbell and speaking on the intercom
iv. Telephone them briefly to confirm wellness
b. Pay particular attention to those recovering from illness or other hospital or hospice stay and liaise with the families and/or carers if there are any changes

2. General Assistance
a. Assist residents on an occasional, where necessary, basis with any tasks that may have health and safety implications for the development as a whole e.g. take rubbish to the waste disposal area when a resident is unable to do so

3. Events
a. Host or arrange regular events for the residents within the lounge and/or communal gardens
b. Most important is a weekly coffee morning in conjunction with the residents committee
i. Ensure supply of drinks and receptacles
ii. Assist with the washing and drying up afterwards of the receptacles and general tidying up
c. Other events that could be brought in could include
i. Book sales
ii. Computer literary courses
iii. Charity events/sales
iv. Any other sensible ideas

2) Steward of development

1. General Engagement
a. Be situated in the office or communal room for a specified period of each day at published times so that residents can report issues or concerns
b. Hold a weekly scheduled 'check in' with every resident to have a conversation and field comments and issues verbally with the development
c. Assist with any events that the developments' Residents Committee wish to have held at the development

2. Managing Agents Assistance
a. Take delivery of any management related post/bills sent to the development in error and forward them to the managing agents
b. Log any issues at the development and report them back to the managing agents
c. Ensure daily maintenance issues which may have health and safety implications e.g. wet leaves, large puddles etch, are dealt with immediately they are reported or noticed
d. Meet with any firms on site as requested by the managing agents
e. Work with the freeholder and managing agents to assist with the improvement plans for the development and to suggest ideas to make it a better place.

The successful candidate must be able to provide excellent references and be willing to undergo full vetting checks.
